JOB TITLE: Site Manager – Wilmington, IL

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Director of Operations

SUMMARY STATEMENT OF FUNCTIONS:

Day-to-day operations of the Senior Meal Café and Home Delivered Meals Program

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages Food Service Aides and drivers, where applicable
  • Maintains all paperwork related to the program in accordance with reporting guidelines.
  • Handles all reporting requirements to the central office and funders related to the program.
  • Ensures daily routes are covered by volunteer drivers.
  • Safely packs home-delivered meals into delivery bags by route.
  • Accepts food and supply deliveries and confirms correct item receipts.
  • Stores food correctly – dry, refrigerated and frozen.
  • Prepares the next day’s food service.
  • Prepares hot and cold foods on the day of service.
  • Prepares weekly meal orders and submits them on time.
  • Sets up and runs serving area for smooth flowing client service.
  • Responsible for volunteer recruitment and management.
  • Cleans equipment and utensils used in food preparation, all food preparation surfaces and all food service areas.
  • Plans events, trips, on-site parties, guest speakers, and other activities for congregate dining participants
  • Responsible for creating a relationship and maintaining timely communication with Case Coordination Units
  • Responsible for volunteer recruitment and management.
  • Responsible for meeting congregate dining goals and targets
  • Responsible for outreach to promote congregate dining participation
  • Responsible for creating connections within the community including but not limited to local municipalities and creating a network of relevant resources for the seniors being served through the program
  • Delivers meals as needed
  • Responsible for educating home delivered meal recipients and congregate dining participants on project income and why’s it’s important for our programs
  • Demonstrates ability to think critically and problem solve
  • Will be responsible for meeting the increasing demand for Meals on Wheels services for older adults during the current COVID-19 pandemic
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to follow verbal instructions.
  • Must have basic computer literacy and ability to use e-mail, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must have knowledge of food preparation and serving principles.
  • Must have knowledge of food service equipment and correct food portioning.
  • Must know how to handle food in a safe and sanitary manner and work in a neat and clean manner.
  • Must be friendly and accustomed to working with people.
  • Must be able to work well with seniors and volunteers.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have Illinois Food Service Sanitation Certificate or be willing to take the class and pass within 90 days of employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

At nutrition sites, exposure to cleaning and or chemical solutions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift / push up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk.
  • Must be able to carry, bend and reach.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability in order to cope with the physical, mental and emotional stress of the position.

TRAVEL: Some travel may be required. Car may be required, with valid Illinois driver’s license and current liability insurance.

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience: Food service: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification: Driver’s License (Preferred)
Food Handler Certification (Preferred)
